Sarnia Muslim Association at this current location is serving the community since early 2000s.
About the Imam
We are blessed to have Sheikh Taha Abdul Karim as our imam since 2023.
Board Members
We have a team of six Executives and 3 Trustees. Executives are elected annually, while trustees are appointed for 3 years tenure.
Our Youth Coordinators
SMA has two youth coordinators, brother Salman & Sister Yasmeen, who are responsible for organizing activities for Youth at SMA like sporting activities, field trips, career nights, and mental health events.
Masjid Membership
SMA members participate in annual general body meetings and support various activities including electing board members.
Anyone from the Sarnia and surrounding community can apply to become a member of the organization by submitting the membership application form, supporting documents and membership fee to the administration in person. Membership will start upon the approval of the board and the payment of annual membership fee.
Existing members can contact the Masjid administration for a copy of the constitution.
Masjid Policies
The following activities are NOT permitted on the Masjid & SMA premises unless approved by the Executive Committee:
- All types of fundraising or any kind of monetary collections.
- All halaqas, lectures, tableeghs, whether religious or non-religious.
- All educational activities, interfaith dialogues, or meetings.
- All personal gatherings or celebrations (e.g. marriage parties, etc).
- All overnight programs, qiyams, or gatherings.
- Cooking in the kitchen or on the premises.
- Overnight parking.
- Distribution of handouts, flyers, or posters after Friday Prayers or during any other time.

Activity Request
Before holding an event at the SMA, please first review the policies listed below. If you agree then please print and fill out the Activity Request Form and submit it to an Executive for approval.

General
- Food and beverages will not be allowed in the hallways, prayer areas, and parking lot.
- Parking on driveways and fire routes is strictly prohibited. Vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
- Activities must be confined to facilities assigned to the applicant.
- The number of people attending the event should not exceed the number specified in the application.
- No function of un-Islamic nature will be allowed on SMA premises. Islamic behavior and code of ethics is expected by all participants.
- No unauthorized fundraising will be permitted.
- No gathering or meeting of a politcal nature will be permitted.
- The applicant(s) shall be responsible for the conduct and supervision of all people attending the event and shall see that all regulations in this contract are strictly observed.
- The exits must be kept free from obstruction at all times.
- Smoking is not permitted at any time inside the building or on the SMA premises.
- Financial responsibility for any damages to the SMA property will be borne by the applicant(s).
- During the course of the event, the applicant(s) bears responsibility for payment of any fee(s) charged by the Municipality or Fire department for a false fire alarm, or any such emergency.
- Any individuals affiliated with the applicant and/or event will not under any circumstances hold the SMA responsible for any claims regarding damages against persons or property which may be brought about during or as a consequence of this event/activity.
- Any changes to the application (i.e. change of date, time, space, or equipment) must be notified to the management 2 week prior to the event.
Equipment
- Setting up and storing away tables and chairs (if used) will be the responsibility of the applicant.
- No wiring shall be modified for lighting and/or sound systems including P.A. systems.
- The equipment to be used during the event should be the same as specified on the application. Other equipments must be approved by the Management at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
- No storage space will be granted to outside organizations.
Kitchen
- No storage space is granted in the kitchen before or after the event.
- Cooking or warming and/or serving of food through the kitchen is not permitted unless approved by the management.
- All leftover food, beverages, etc should be removed from the premises immediately after the event. The SMA will not be responsible if any of these items are misplaced.
- Garbage bags will be supplied by the SMA.
- All dishes (plates, glasses, utensils, etc) should be removed from the basment / halls.
- The kitchen area including other areas of gatherings must be cleaned properly before leaving the premises.
- Financial responsibility for any damages to the SMA appliance will be borne by the applicant(s).
- Absolutely no children allowed in the kitchen.
